Terms of Service

Welcome to sff.gg (“Website”, “Service”, “We”, “Us”, or “Our”). By accessing or using our website, hardware databases, Community Builds, compatibility systems, 3D visualisation tools, and related services, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service (“Terms”). If you do not agree to these Terms, please do not access or use the Service.

1. Acceptance & Permitted Use

The Website provides hardware databases, component specification lookups, compatibility analysis, Community Builds, interactive tools, 3D visualisation, editorial content, and other information relating to small form factor (SFF) computer hardware.

  • Personal Use: Unless expressly stated otherwise, the Service and its interactive tools are provided primarily for personal, informational, and non-commercial use.

  • Prohibited Acts: You agree not to use the Website for any unlawful purpose, transmit malicious code, attempt unauthorised access, interfere with security controls, or use the Service in a manner that disrupts, overburdens, or impairs our servers, applications, networks, or other users.

2. Hardware Data, Compatibility & Disclaimers

We aim to maintain accurate and useful hardware specifications, dimensions, compatibility information, documented fitment evidence, and physical clearance calculations. However, SFF hardware compatibility can depend on manufacturing tolerances, revisions, component combinations, installation methods, cables, adapters, brackets, case modes, user modifications, and other factors that cannot always be represented by published specifications alone.

  • Informational Purposes Only: Database records, hardware specifications, clearance calculations, compatibility results, recommendations, community fitment observations, 3D representations, simulations, and other technical outputs are provided for general planning and informational purposes.

  • No Guarantee of Physical Fitment: A compatibility result or documented Community Build does not guarantee that another apparently similar configuration will fit or operate identically. You should verify critical dimensions, mounting requirements, electrical requirements, manufacturer documentation, and component revisions before purchasing or assembling hardware.

  • Community Evidence: Compatibility information may incorporate observations or technical data supplied by Community Build contributors. Such information represents documented real-world evidence and may not have been independently reproduced or verified by sff.gg.

  • Automated & Derived Analysis: Some compatibility, similarity, recommendation, classification, or analytical features may be generated using deterministic software, statistical methods, machine-learning systems, or other automated analysis. These outputs remain informational and should not be treated as a substitute for physical verification.

3. Community Builds & User Submissions

The Service may allow visitors to submit computer Builds, hardware configurations, fitment observations, comments, notes, images, and related content (“User Content”).

  • Your Content: You retain any rights you hold in original photographs, written material, and other original content that you submit.

  • Permission to Publish: By submitting User Content, you grant sff.gg a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, store, reproduce, resize, crop, compress, format, display, distribute, and otherwise process that content as reasonably necessary to operate the Service, including Community Build pages, galleries, case pages, search results, previews, and related features.

  • Rights & Permissions: You must only upload content that you created or otherwise have sufficient rights or permission to submit and publish. You must not knowingly submit content that infringes another person’s copyright, privacy, trademark, or other rights.

  • Public Information: Information intended for publication as part of a Community Build may be visible publicly, including your chosen display name or alias, Build title, hardware configuration, case information, fitment observations, notes, photographs, and comments.

  • Moderation: We may reject, edit for presentation or technical formatting, unpublish, or remove User Content where reasonably necessary for moderation, security, legal compliance, data quality, or operation of the Service.

4. Use of Submitted Technical Data

Community Build submissions are also a source of structured technical evidence. By submitting a Build or other hardware information, you acknowledge that the technical information contained in that submission may be analysed and used to develop and improve sff.gg.

This may include use of submitted case configurations, component identities, dimensions, cooling configurations, case modes, fitment observations, modifications, compatibility issues, and other technical Build information for purposes such as:

  • compatibility and fitment evidence;

  • hardware and configuration analytics;

  • Build similarity and comparison systems;

  • recommendations and compatibility guidance;

  • statistical and aggregate analysis;

  • data-quality validation and identification of hardware relationships;

  • development, testing, evaluation, or improvement of algorithms and machine-learning systems used for technical hardware analysis; and

  • other derived technical insights relating to SFF hardware and compatibility.

We may combine submitted technical information with manufacturer specifications, database records, other documented Builds, and other technical sources. Where submitted information is personal data or remains linked to an identifiable contributor, its processing is also governed by our Privacy Policy.

Aggregated or appropriately de-identified technical statistics and derived compatibility relationships may continue to form part of our technical datasets even if the original public submission is later removed, provided that the retained information no longer identifies the contributor.

5. Third-Party Trademarks & Product Images

Third-party product names, logos, brand names, trademarks, registered trademarks, and product images displayed across the Website remain the property of their respective owners or other applicable rights holders.

  • Reference & Identification: Third-party names, marks, specifications, and product imagery are used for identification, comparison, commentary, reference, and informational purposes.

  • No Endorsement or Affiliation: Their appearance on sff.gg does not imply affiliation with, sponsorship by, approval from, or endorsement by the relevant manufacturer or rights holder unless expressly stated.

6. Intellectual Property & Original Content

Except for third-party material and User Content, all rights held by sff.gg in its original software, interface designs, branding, written content, database compilation and structure, compatibility systems, visualisation tools, and other original materials are reserved.

You may share links to our pages and reproduce short, non-automated text excerpts for quotation, commentary, or reference where appropriate attribution and a direct link to sff.gg are provided.

Nothing in these Terms transfers ownership of third-party content, User Content, or intellectual property that we do not own.

7. Automated Scraping, Extraction & Republishing

Because the Website contains proprietary databases, structured datasets, software applications, and derived compatibility information:

  • Automated scraping, systematic extraction, bulk downloading, automated querying, or harvesting of database records or Community Build datasets without prior written permission is prohibited except where required or permitted by applicable law.

  • You may not mirror, clone, frame, systematically reproduce, or republish substantial portions of our databases, compatibility outputs, application interfaces, or 3D tools on another website or service without permission.

  • This restriction does not prohibit ordinary search-engine crawlers or similar indexing services operating in accordance with our published robots.txt rules, metadata, and crawler directives.

8. External Links & Affiliate Disclosure

The Website contains links to external websites, hardware manufacturers, retailers, and other third-party services.

  • Third-Party Sites: We do not control or guarantee third-party websites, their content, policies, pricing, availability, or products. Transactions with external merchants are between you and the relevant third party.

  • Commercial & Affiliate Links: Some outbound links may contain affiliate or commercial tracking identifiers. As an Amazon Associate, we earn from qualifying purchases made through eligible Amazon affiliate links. Other retailer links may also generate a commission at no additional cost to you.

9. Disclaimer of Warranties

To the extent permitted by applicable law, the Website and its databases, Community Builds, compatibility tools, 3D tools, software features, and content are provided on an “AS IS” and “AS AVAILABLE” basis. We do not guarantee that the Service will always be uninterrupted, error-free, complete, secure, or suitable for a particular hardware configuration or purpose.

10. Limitation of Liability

To the extent permitted by applicable law, sff.gg and its operators are not responsible for losses arising solely from reliance on informational hardware data, compatibility estimates, Community Build observations, purchasing decisions, or use of the Service where such losses were not caused by our breach of a legal duty owed to you.

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability where doing so would be unlawful, including liability that cannot legally be excluded or restricted, or any mandatory statutory rights available to consumers.

11. User Responsibility

You are responsible for your use of the Service and for content that you submit. You must not deliberately misuse the Service, submit unlawful material, impersonate another person, or knowingly provide content that infringes third-party rights.

12. Severability & Non-Waiver

If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable by a court or other competent authority, that provision will apply only to the maximum extent permitted and the remaining provisions will continue in effect. Failure to enforce a provision on one occasion does not waive our right to enforce it later.

13. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time to reflect changes to the Service, our practices, or applicable requirements. The “Last Updated” date identifies the most recent revision. Where a change is material, we may provide additional notice where reasonably practicable or required by law.
